To Be - Verbo to be
Il
verbo to be è, come molti sapranno, l'infinito del verbo essere. Ogni
verbo inglese è preceduto dal to (to see, to drink, to run...).
Oggi analizzeremo il present simple (il nostro presente indicativo).
E' il verbo più semplice e più conosciuto e consiste di tre sole forme: am, is e are.
Am si usa per la prima persona singolare, is per la terza persona singolare e are per le restanti.
Si può usare anche in forma abbreviata togliendo la prima vocale del verbo.
Esempi: I am = I'm
You are = You' re
Per la negazione si mette not dopo il verbo, in maniera estesa o anche in questo caso abbreviata.
Esempi: I'm not here
You're not ready
He's not English
oppure
You aren't ready
He isn't English
Ultimo
aspetto da analizzare è l'uso nelle interrogative. E' molto semplice,
basta far seguire il soggetto o pronome dal verbo to be, opportunamente coniugato.
Esempi: Are you ready ?
Is he English ?
Logicamente anche nel caso delle interrogative potremmo usare la forma negativa.
Esempi: Aren't u ready ?
Isn't he english ?
Aren't I fine ?
C'è da fare una piccola osservazione finale. Come si può vedere per la prima persona singolare non abbiamo usato nell'esempio
"Am not I" o anche "Am I not" solo per una questione di musicalità. Comunque le tre forme possono essere usate indistintamente.
Quindi ricapitolando useremo per la forma affermativa
SOGGETTO + VERBO + COMPLEMENTO
per la forma negativa
SOGGETTO + VERBO + NOT + COMPLEMENTO
per la interrogativa
VERBO + SOGGETTO + COMPLEMENTO
per la interrogativa negativa
VERBO + NOT + SOGGETTO + COMPLEMENTO
Quindi ricapitolando useremo per la forma affermativa
